Tucson concussion causes

There can be several risk factors that put people at risk for concussions.

After a car accident, concussions can be the dangerous injuries that nobody sees right away at an accident scene. The symptoms can often be so mild that they would escape a first responder, but they can also be so severe that they immediately cause nausea and memory loss.

If you are suffering from these symptoms, there are tests a doctor can perform to determine if you have a concussion and if so, a doctor can determine the extent of the injuries. These tests can include a neurological exam to assess a patient's memory, vision, hearing, and reflexes.

Occasionally, doctors may identify certain risk factors and signs that indicate a more severe concussive brain injury. Some of the risk factors are:

  • Falling from a height of more than 3 feet;
  • Advanced age;
  • Thrown from a vehicle following a car accident.

After a concussion, a doctor may want to keep you overnight for observation, but in some cases patients may be sent home. In some cases, it might be important to have someone watch you sleep and wake you every so often to ensure you return to full consciousness to make sure the concussion is not more extensive than initially thought.

A Tucson personal injury lawyer at the Showard Law Firm can help if you are facing costly medical care because of a concussion. In some cases, these injuries can take months or even years to heal, and it is crucial that victims of another party's negligence get the help they need to recover from their injuries.
